Time Out NY
Postion - Guides Internships

You don't want to schlep coffee and make deli runs all day for your internship do you? College kids don't have to pay those kinds of dues to break into the media industry! Get an internship in the Time Out New York Guides department and get some real experience. What is "Guides" and what will you do in as intern there? Well, we produce four annual guidebooks: The New York City Guide (a 400-page travel book), the Student Guide (a 110-page magazine geared toward college students) the Eating & Drinking Guide (which features reviews of more than 2,500 restaurants and bars) and the Bars & Clubs guide (featuring more than 1,000 bar reviews). And we are looking for an individual who is a resourceful and efficient researcher capable of communicating effectively over the phone and on his/her feet (knowledge of New York City is a major plus). Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, be able to work independently and be computer literate (knowledge of Macs, Quark Copy Desk, Microsoft Excel and FileMaker a bonus). In addition, multitasking, a willingness to do office work—filing, copying—and a sense of humor are all a must. If you get the job, then expect to work closely with a small team of editors on long-term projects, experiencing many stages of the editorial process. You'll also have a lot of fun exploring the city through Time Out New York. Here's a list of what is required of the person we are looking for: Effective communication skills. Must be Computer savvy. Organizational skills. Office experience.
